Ms. Pam Chaffin has been teaching for 20 years. She is currently in her 10th year as the Director of Bands at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, FL. Ms. Chaffin holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Louisiana State University and a Master of Music with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Tennessee.
Ms. Chaffin’s teaching responsibilities at Mandarin High School include: the direction of 2 Concert Ensembles, Jazz Band, Chamber Winds, the Mighty Mustang Marching Band, and Guitar I. Her bands consistently receive superior ratings and receive accolades at evaluative and competitive events.
Ms. Chaffin is a National Board certified teacher, has served as the All District Band Chairperson, been named to “Who’s Who” on several occasions, been recognized as "most influential teacher," won the Coca Cola National Educator of Distinction, and been selected by her colleagues for the “Tom Bishop Award” which recognizes remarkable positive impact on a high school band program. On September 26, 2013 Ms. Chaffin was chosen Mandarin High's Teacher of the Year and in January 2014 became a semi finalist for the Duval County Teacher of the Year.
Her professional and honorary affiliations include: FBA, FMEA, WBDI, CBDNA, NBA, and Sigma Alpha Iota.

Mandarin Mustang Band
Welcome to the Mandarin High School Band program in Jacksonville, Florida under the direction of Ms. Pamela Chaffin. The Mandarin band program is recognized as one of the premier high school music programs in Florida. Performance ensembles include the Mandarin Mustang Marching Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensembles, and Color Guard.
The Mandarin High School Band program provides a comprehensive music experience for its students with special emphasis placed in the area of Concert and Solo and Ensemble performance.
The Mandarin Bands have a long history of achievement including numerous Otto J. Kraushaar awards for a record of straight superior ratings at all marching and concert assessments throughout the year.
